SPOON SPORTS is proud to release a CRANE NECK WING (CARBON) for the 11th generation Civic Type R (FL5)
Aerodynamics is one of the most important themes in today’s tuning. A car already armed with exceptional performance, we set our goal in developing a rear wing the Civic Type R that can provide a wide range of setting options and even be effective in motorsports competition. Applying CFD mechanics from initial design, the product under went wind tunnel testing to obtain proof of performance. After making numerous desktop considerations in terms of size, structure and wing angles, we produced several proto-types. The proto-types were placed in a wind tunnel testing facility to take drag and downforce measurements. The proto-types that were observed to be effective in the wind tunnel were taken and installed to a car for real-world testing on track. The design was only finalized after rigorous comparison. Implementing CFD to the initial design, desk-top testing on various aspects, proto-typing and wind tunnel testing. The product underwent numerous stages of development, finally being tested on track for lap times and feedback from our drivers. We are confident that our development process for this product was efficient and effective.
The new SPOONSPORTS CRANE NECK WING (CARBON) provides optimum downforce with minimal drag to the Civic Type R, allowing a wide range of set ups for various driving stages.

SPOON SPORTS will now offer an ENGINE COMPLETE package for the 10th generation CIVIC/CIVIC TYPE R (FK7/FK8)
The ENGINE COMPLETE package is built entirely with brand new OE parts from Honda. Before assembly, all metal burrs are removed from the cylinder block and cylinder head to avoid possible stress concentration and to avoid engine damage from contamination. The piston, piston pin and all moving parts of the conrod are carefully weighed and balanced within 0.02g of tolerance on each cylinder. The total weight of the moving parts is approximately 1,100g (K20C) hence tolerance of 0.02g translates to managing the weight difference within 0.002%. Stock Honda Type R engines are built with a tolerance of 0.2%. We’ve set our bar 100 times higher. Precise weight management of moving parts in an engine helps to decrease minute vibrations, allowing the engine to rev smoothly. The effect may not be visible on a power curve, but it definitely reflects on driving feel.
Another critical factor of building an engine is clearance management. Modern engines are made up of different materials such as aluminum and steel in order to balance durability and weight saving. Cylinder sleeves made of steel is cast molded into an aluminum cylinder block and combined with pistons made from aluminum. Crankshaft, camshaft and intake/exhaust valves are made of steel, assembled to cylinder blocks and cylinder heads made of aluminum. Since the coefficient of thermal expansion are different between aluminum and steel, clearance deviates according to temperature fluctuation. At SPOON SPORTS, we take pride in assembling all our engines in a cleanroom, temperature controlled to maintain an environment for optimum clearance management during assembly.
Precision components are assembled in a constant environment by our skilled engine builders. We look forward to delivering the true performance of the Honda engine to our customers!
SPOON SPORTS introduces custom THERMOSTAT
for the 11th generation Civic (FL1)
Water temperature management is an integral part of a performance engine. When the cooling water temperature is too low, clearance of various parts of the engine cannot be optimally maintained, causing increased friction which can cause the engine to underperform. On the hand, when the water temperature gets too high, over heating may trigger the engine to run on fail-safe mode or in a worst-case scenario, it may cause distortion to the cylinders and cylinder heads and ultimately blow the engine.
The stock thermostat that keeps the cooling
water temperature in check is set up for normal street use, having a relatively
high temperature operation range. This can become a risk for sports driving as
the cooling water temperature shoots up, causing the engine to power down from
overheating.
Our thermostat is preset to open up at 68℃ compared to 78℃ of stock, and fully open at
81℃ compared to the stock setting of 90℃. This means that cooled water from the radiator is supplied to the
engine much earlier, keeping up with the quick temperature rise, allowing the
driver to run the car at its full potential for a prolonged period.
Enjoy trouble-free sports driving with our
new thermostat!
SPOON SPORTS proudly announces the new release of the RECLINING BUCKET SEAT.
In sports driving, the driver’s seat is one of the most crucial parts of the vehicle, directly connecting the car and the driver. A full bucket seat used in motorsports allows the driver to instantly feel the car’s behavior, however, it can become an unbearable stress in street driving. We developed our RECLINING BUCKET SEAT to accommodate both worlds, track and street driving. The bucket seat was designed to allow the driver to feel the car’s behavior from the waist as well as cradling the driver at the shoulders to firmly secure optimum eye level. We used the same breathable fabric as carbon bucket seats for maximum ventilation and comfort. Take a seat and enjoy sports driving in comfort!
※ Seat rails sold separately. Please refer to the chart below for seat rail correspondence.
