SPOON SPORTS will release an ENGINE
TRANSMISSION MOUNT SET for the 10th generation Civic Type R (FK8)
The torque of the engine is transferred to the tires thru the transmission and driveshaft, but it is only made possible with the ability of the engine mount to counter the reaction force. Making the engine mount as rigid as possible could help to improve throttle response and even the shift feel to some extent.
However, when the engine mount is too stiff, all the vibration from the engine can reach the cabin, significantly reducing the comfort level inside the cabin. In developing our engine mount, we tested various mounts of different stiffness, trying to find the ultimate balance of performance and comfort. Our final testing stage being the 25-hour endurance race.
After the final testing stage of running
the endurance race, our drivers came back with positive feedback. Post-race
evaluation of the engine mount proved its durability.

SPOON SPORTS newly introduces OIL FILTERS
for Honda Cars
Honda cars are best known for its high revving engines. For the engine to perform 100%, regular oil maintenance is always crucial. Changing the oil at an interval of 3,000〜5,000km is recommended and replacing the oil filter at the time of oil change is also important to keep the engine in optimum condition. Filtration performance and low viscosity loss are characteristics that contradict each other; however, we have been successful in developing an oil filter achieving both at a high level. By placing a strong magnet inside the oil filter, we are able to isolate any metal contamination that might cause filtration clogging. We’ve also adopted a special filter material that has low viscosity loss. As a result, the oil filter can remove 98% of particles up to 50μin size, achieving high filtration performance with minimal viscosity loss.
The adaptation of high-performance filter material has allowed us to achieve the required oil filtration performance in a much smaller package. This translates to less oil requirement, lighter weight of the oil filter itself, which can minimize the risk of the oil filter from loosening due to engine vibration. SPOON SPORTS will
be adding a new shift knob for the 10th /11th Civic Type R (FK8/FL5) in line
up.
This shift knob
follows the traditional SPOON SPORTS original design. The length has also been
optimized to fit the higher shift lever position compared to the previous
model.
Stock shift boot
can be used with this new shift knob.
As same with the
traditional SPOON SPORTS shift knobs, the materials are available in two kinds:
Aluminum and Duracon.

Our pursuit for the best exhaust system for
Honda sports cars is never ending.
Honda sports cars are renowned for their unmatched engine feel. What defines such feeling is the direct delivery of power and the composed exhaust note. The exhilarating sound combined with increased efficiency of power. Whether new or old, tuning the exhaust systems has always been an important part of Honda sports cars. To deliver such exhilarating experience to the driver, SPOON SPORTS develops exhaust systems by testing our product at various driving stages.
In 2021, we raced our FK8 at the Thunderhill 25 Hours Race using our N1 Muffler kit. Exposing the driver to excessive exhaust sound in endurance races can cause unwarranted fatigue. On the other hand, when the exhaust sound is too modest, it may lack the ability to keep the adrenaline going and cause the drive to lose focus. In terms of spec, our N1 Muffler is a proven product. Running the product in a long-distance race allows us to gather data to understand how the sound affects the drivers. Feedback from our drivers were that the exhaust note helped them to concentrate throughout the race, but the sound was not excessive to cause any extra fatigue.
The N1 Muffler Kit for the FL5 was developed utilizing all the data and experience we were able to obtain from such real driving mileage. The initial layout of the system like the pipe diameter and silencer placement were determined from simulation data acquired on a flow bench. The development was finalized after repeatedly testing on an actual car. Anticipating turbo upgrades, increased boosts and of course racing, the diameter of the front and main pipes were finalized atφ70 combined with a φ145 bullet-shaped silencer and a φ80 end pipe. Adhered the dual exhaust style similar to our FK8 product. Please enjoy the Honda sports performance and sound with our N1 Muffler Kit.
